You float along - waiting, watching a piece of dirt growing ever so larger. Heart is pounding louder than the action you see ahead.
The door opens and now is the time you've been training for and fearing.
Some never make it to shore on thier feet.
I just want to remember those brave men who lived in a time that freedom meant more than self.

My father was one of those men in WWII. He was also the one who taught me patriotism was enjoyed with your chest out, head held high, and an unashamed tear in your eye.
