Today, as everyday, me ears were tuned to Mitter Church ( you can listen free for a month online to him on Sirius Patriot 144). He shed some light on the Washington healthcare flim flam suffle. The point concerned Nazi Pelosi's action to pass this slavery by not following ARTICLE I sec.7. . He also discussed the SCOTUS constitutional duty to strike it down if it does pass. The light shed on this, he read the following and pointed to this article over at the American Spectator--
Speech to the Virginia Convention on Ratifying the Constitution
"There are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power, than by violent and sudden usurpations..."
-- James Madison, June 6, 1788
The following from Mike that I find interesting was the 'voluntary slavery' and to where the discussion, on my blog, of the Constitution is at.
Griper, I said I had to think about it today, well Mike did the thinking for me.
This is a segment taken from one of Thomas Jefferson's major pieces prior to the Revolutionary War know as "Declaration of the Causes and Necessity of Taking up Arms".
"In brief, a part of these colonies now feel, and all of them are sure of feeling, as far as the vengeance of administration can inflict them, the complicated calamities of fire, sword and famine. We are reduced to the alternative of chusing an unconditional submission to the tyranny of irritated ministers, or resistance by force. -- The latter is our choice. -- We have counted the cost of this contest, and find nothing so dreadful as voluntary slavery. -- Honour, justice, and humanity, forbid us tamely to surrender that freedom which we received from our gallant ancestors, and which our innocent posterity have a right to receive from us. We cannot endure the infamy and guilt of resigning succeeding generations to that wretchedness which inevitably awaits them, if we basely entail hereditary bondage upon them."
This is a must read as it is not even taught in the public schools now a days. After all, the 13 colonies did not just decided by a magical moment that it was time for revolution. No, there were reasons, arguments and finally a breaking point.
Read the entire work as written by Thomas Jefferson here --
